SIGIR paper submission process includes the submission of a valid and pertinent abstract prior to the full paper submission deadline. In view of preserving equal treatment for all contributors:
No full paper will be accepted if it does not correspond to a valid abstract submitted on time
No late submission of abstract will be accepted
No late submission of full paper will be accepted
SIGIR has adopted this policy of requesting abstracts a week before the paper deadline, so that the bidding process and reviewer assignments can happen on time. Authors, who miss these deadlines, may consider later deadlines, e.g., posters (Feb 12) or workshops (when these are announced after March 4).
We follow the most open policy, as was done previous years:
For conference submissions, the times are before the indicated deadline date has passed everywhere on the planet, which means by 23:59:59 Apia Samoa time on the date indicated. That corresponds to 11:59:59 (in the morning) Geneva time (CET, GMT+1) the following day. For example, paper abstract submissions are due before 12am Central EU time on January 16th, 2010.
